Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has sacked 15 staff over access to the medical records of three people killed in Nottingham in 2023, the trust said.
Its investigation has also resulted in 15 final written warnings and two first written warnings. Those investigated include doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers. The families received the latest update this week.
Valdo Calocane killed Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley-Kumar, both 19, and Ian Coates, a 65-year-old caretaker, in June 2023. He also attempted to kill three others. In January 2024, he was given an indefinite hospital order after admitting manslaughter by diminished responsibility and attempted murder.
Medical director Dr Manjeet Shehmar apologised to the families. She said the trust would keep investigating improper access, train staff on record security and introduce a system to flag possible data breaches.
