Syngenta is considering ending its operations in the Grangemouth area, a move that could put 377 jobs at risk. The chemical manufacturer says it has made no final decision and is consulting employees and trade unions.
Local SNP MSP Martyn Day has called on Prime Minister Andy Burnham to say when £200 million promised for industry in the Falkirk area will be spent. Day claims none of the funding has been delivered.
The threat comes roughly a year after more than 400 workers lost their jobs when Grangemouth oil refinery, Scotland’s last, closed. Day opposes further industrial closures in the area.
