Mike Ditka died Friday at 86, his family announced. Tributes to the former Chicago Bears player and coach have come from the team, President Donald Trump, former President Barack Obama and the NFL.
Ditka helped reshape the tight end position as a player and later coached the Bears to a Super Bowl victory. A Pro Football Hall of Famer, he also worked as a TV analyst.
The Bears remembered Ditka's decades with the organization as a player, coach and ambassador, and his role in bringing championships to Chicago. Trump recalled Ditka as a supporter and a winner. Obama remembered arriving in Chicago in 1985, when Ditka's Bears were dominant and beloved by the city.
