Lidl US has recalled a single lot of Gelatelli Coffee & Vanilla Gelato with Coffee Sauce & Cookie Pieces over possible Listeria contamination.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said routine testing detected Listeria in a laboratory sample. Affected 1-pint containers carry lot number 085261, UPC 4 0564897 22458 and a best-by date of March 26, 2028. The identifiers appear on the bottom of the clear container with a brown lid.
The gelato reached Lidl stores between July 19 and Oct. 15 in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, as well as the District of Columbia. Customers should throw away containers from the affected lot or take them to a Lidl store for a full refund.
Listeria can cause severe illness in young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems. The commission also warns that infection during pregnancy can lead to miscarriage or stillbirth.
