Construction will close Highway 101 through San Francisco’s Hospital Curve from 11 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday, Caltrans said. The shutdown covers every southbound lane and one northbound lane between Cesar Chavez Street and 17th Street.
Caltrans recommends avoiding the area or using Interstate 280 instead. The closure will affect drivers leaving San Francisco via the Central Freeway and those arriving from the East Bay over the Bay Bridge who intend to continue across the city on Highway 101. Trips to Chase Center for Game 1 of the WNBA Finals will also be affected.
The work is part of a repaving and rehabilitation project that began last fall. This is its third closure; Caltrans has scheduled a fourth and final closure of the same lanes for Nov. 6–9, weather permitting.
