Keith Scully and Danica Noble appeared to draw a modest contrast at a candidate forum for Washington’s 32nd Legislative District, despite agreeing on several major issues.
The two Democrats are running for state House Position 1, a seat held by Cindy Ryu. At the forum hosted by local Democrats at the Edmonds Library, both named education funding as a top concern. They also backed a Millionaires’ Tax and said Washington should change its regressive tax system.
Noble, an antitrust attorney and PTA advocate, repeatedly pressed for action to regulate artificial intelligence and hold large technology companies accountable. Scully, a longtime Shoreline City Council member, appeared to cast himself as the more centrist candidate, emphasizing consensus-building to achieve progressive tax reform.
The district stretches from northwest Seattle through Shoreline and Mountlake Terrace to Edmonds and Lynnwood. Ryu is running against state Sen. Jesse Salomon for his Senate seat.
