Birmingham City Council issued 65 penalty charge notices in the first 10 days of a camera pilot targeting banned right turns.
The moving traffic enforcement pilot began on 15 June 2026. By 25 June, the council had issued 65 live notices, all for prohibited right turns on three roads. Automatic number plate recognition cameras captured the vehicles involved.
Revenue from the penalties covers the cost of the camera system and road improvements. The council will use evidence from the pilot to inform decisions about wider deployment across Birmingham.
