Josh Kerr will attempt to break the men's mile world record at Saturday's Diamond League meeting at London Stadium. His place in the Emsley Carr Mile has been confirmed alongside fellow Scot Neil Gourley and Paris Olympic bronze medallist Yared Nuguse.
The record stands at 3 minutes 43.13 seconds, set by Morocco's Hicham El Guerrouj in Rome in 1999. Kerr, an Olympic silver medallist and two-time world indoor champion, will also face Americans Hobbs Kessler and Nathan Green. Gourley holds the European indoor mile record.
The London programme also includes Jake Wightman in the men's 800m alongside Emmanuel Wanyonyi, who broke the 1,000m world record in Monaco on Friday. Keely Hodgkinson leads the English entrants in the women's 800m, while Julien Alfred is set to defend her London 200m title against a field including Gabby Thomas and Dina Asher-Smith.
