The Chicago Bulls lost 133-128 in Denver on Sunday night in their third preseason game, with injuries limiting their options at center.
Jalen Smith returned against the Nuggets after aggravating a foot injury and missing Friday’s game against Memphis. Rookie Tobe Awaka sat out with a sore knee described as a day-to-day issue. Nic Claxton was still dealing with a hamstring problem that could cost him games at the start of the regular season, while Zach Collins had a sore quadriceps.
Coach Tiago Splitter said the injuries were a concern. With Chicago aiming to play at a fast pace, he said the team would need to manage its centers’ minutes and would probably use a three-player rotation at the position each night.
