Scoring in the 2026 MLB playoffs is on pace for a historic low, though more games remain. Through 25 postseason games, teams have averaged 3.46 runs per game; if that rate holds, it would be the lowest since the Division Series became a permanent fixture in 1995.
Teams have hit .208 with a .291 on-base percentage and .334 slugging percentage across the first two rounds. In the Division Series alone, they averaged 3.06 runs per game. Overall postseason offense is about 25% below the regular-season level, a sharper drop than the usual decline of roughly half a run per game.
The small sample of 25 games may account for some of the difference. At most 21 games remain. Four teams are still in contention: the Dodgers face the Brewers in the National League Championship Series, while the Guardians meet the Rays for the American League title.
