A pedestrian died after a driver allegedly struck them and fled in North Hollywood early Monday, Los Angeles police said. Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The crash occurred around 2:20 a.m. near Sherman Way and Lankershim Boulevard. Police said the pedestrian was crossing the street when a light-colored SUV, possibly a yellow Jeep Wrangler, hit them. The driver then headed east on Sherman Way without stopping to help.
Police have not identified the pedestrian while they await notification of the person's family. Officers are searching for the driver. A standing reward of up to $50,000 is available for information leading to the driver's identification, arrest and conviction under Los Angeles' hit-and-run reward program.
