A woman got out of a car at a red light in Kent after suspecting the driver was not her Uber driver, Seattle police said. The driver then sped away.
Police said she had entered the car near First Avenue and South King Street in Seattle on Oct. 10 after asking the driver if he was there for her. He said yes, but she had not checked his name or license plate before taking a seat in the back.
She grew concerned when the driver passed her exit and she received a notice that her Uber ride had been canceled, police said. She saw him using Google Maps rather than the Uber app and began texting friends. They later located her in Kent in the area of Military Road South and Kent Des Moines Road.
The woman described a white four-door sedan driven by a man she estimated was between 30 and 50 years old, police said.
