Marcos Morillon sells ice wholesale by day and plays a scare actor at Horrorland during the Halloween season. At Jungle Island, he performs as The Mayhem, a character whose look, personality and backstory he developed himself.
Colored contact lenses help Morillon make the shift into character. He said his interest in horror began in childhood, when his mother, also a fan, decorated their home for occasions including Friday the 13th.
Horrorland has returned to South Florida for its seventh year. For Morillon, the seasonal role is a second job, and fitting it around his full-time work takes careful time management. He joins other performers who spend the season frightening and entertaining visitors.
