A Florida appeals court struck down a leaked grand jury report on the DeSantis administration’s decision to direct $10 million from a Medicaid settlement to the Hope Florida Foundation. Governor Ron DeSantis called the ruling a victory at a Miami news conference.

DeSantis held up the First District Court of Appeals’ 19-page ruling and spoke for 23 minutes without interruption.

The money was subsequently routed through political action committees before reaching a committee that DeSantis and his then-chief of staff, James Uthmeier, used to oppose a 2024 ballot measure that would have legalized marijuana.
