Buddy & Son is scheduled to open October 26 inside the Public Hotel on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Former Gjelina Group CEO Shelley Armistead and former Gjelina chef Jake Epstein are planning the brasserie.
The hotel is at 215 Chrystie Street, near East Houston Street. Armistead left Gjelina Group in 2025 after more than a decade there, while Epstein served as the opening executive chef at Gjelina New York.
Ian Schrager opened the hotel nine years ago. Its main restaurant was previously Public Kitchen, associated with Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The hotel occupies a Herzog & de Meuron building.
