A federal judge has blocked President Trump's attempt to revoke White House access for journalists from three news organizations. U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly granted a preliminary injunction, keeping their access to the grounds in place while the case proceeds.
In a 26-page decision, Kelly found that the loss of the journalists' hard passes likely violated their First and Fifth Amendment rights. He said the revocations could discourage reporting the president opposed, and that Trump's comments suggested he intended to change how the journalists covered him.
Kelly was appointed by Trump. The president had previously said the Justice Department would appeal if Kelly ruled against him.
