Shania Care-Slede, 20, has been charged with aggravated arson in connection with a moorland fire near Dovestone reservoir in Greater Manchester. She also faces a dangerous driving charge.
Care-Slede, from Hyde, was arrested by Greater Manchester Police in Oldham on Monday. She appeared at Manchester magistrates court on Tuesday, where District Judge Simon Blakebrough remanded her in custody until a plea hearing at Manchester Minshull Street crown court on 18 August.
Firefighters declared a major incident near the reservoir in Greenfield after the fire broke out on Saturday evening. Fireworks had been launched before the blaze, but whether they caused it remains unclear. Police said they had received a report of pyrotechnics.
Smoke from two separate wildfires has spread across large parts of Greater Manchester. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service advised people in affected areas to remain indoors where possible and keep windows and doors shut.
