Nearly 396,000 customers had no electricity across the Florida Panhandle and southern Alabama early Sunday as the remnants of Hurricane Isaias headed north.
At least four deaths have been linked to the storm. Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons said a falling tree killed a woman inside her Florida home. He said a man died after inhaling carbon monoxide from a generator operating in his garage; four relatives received treatment and were expected to survive.
The National Weather Service warned of possible isolated flash floods and strong gusts, particularly near the southern Appalachians. Moderate to heavy rain was forecast across the central Appalachians and mid-Atlantic, while further outages and fallen trees and power lines were possible.
Dangerous surf and rip currents were expected to persist along the Gulf and south-eastern Atlantic coasts. Isaias made landfall near Destin, Florida, on Friday as a category 2 hurricane.
