Naomi Campbell has won a legal challenge against her five-year ban from serving as a charity trustee. A tribunal found that serious wrongdoing at Fashion for Relief had been concealed from her by a fellow trustee.
The Charity Commission, which regulates charities in England and Wales, imposed the ban in 2024 after finding that funds had been mismanaged at the charity Campbell founded. It argued that she had failed in her trustee duties and bore substantial responsibility for governance failures and misuse of funds.
Campbell told the tribunal she had been deceived by fellow trustee Bianka Hellmich. The tribunal found that the most serious failures, including unauthorised payments to Hellmich and misuse of charity funds, stemmed from Hellmich’s conduct and were hidden from Campbell. Hellmich received a nine-year trustee ban; a third trustee, Veronica Chou, was banned for four years.
