Derby barber and Diego Maradona lookalike Sid Kumar is backing England against Argentina in Wednesday’s World Cup semi-final. An England and Derby County fan, he plans to keep his Argentina shirt out of sight before the match.
Kumar said growing his hair long and curly during the Covid lockdowns brought out his resemblance to Maradona. When he went to Wembley for Argentina’s match against Italy in 2022, Argentine supporters bowed at his feet and sang the footballer’s name.
After four decades cutting hair, Kumar has signed with a lookalike agency and now offers appearances at events. He expects a close semi-final, possibly decided on penalties, but hopes England reach the final.
