Christa Pike has begun walking around her hospital room, her lawyer Stephen Ferrell said, more than a week after she survived a failed execution in Tennessee. She remains in hospital and is mentally foggy, he said.
Pike, 50, was taken from the execution chamber to hospital on 30 September, unconscious but alive. She had received two doses of pentobarbital. She was declared brain dead on Monday but woke and began speaking on Tuesday.
Ferrell said her arms were badly injured and she had limited use of them. Her legal team is seeking psychological support, and it is not yet clear whether she will recover fully.
