Pope Leo XIV returned to a public engagement on Sunday, reciting the Angelus prayer from a window of the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace days after surgery for lung cancer.
It was his first such appearance since the operation. He has been diagnosed with lung adenocarcinoma, the most common type of lung cancer.
After the prayer, the Pope thanked those who had prayed for him in recent days and expressed appreciation for their support. He said he would resume his commitments gradually as he recovers.
