Amos Kipruto won the 2026 Chicago Marathon men's race after taking control in the second half. His unofficial time was 2:01:09.
Kipruto had placed third in Chicago in 2024 and second in 2025. This win was his second at a major marathon, following his 2022 victory in London. Tadese Bikila finished second in 2:02:56, while defending champion Jacob Kiplimo was fourth in 2:04:18. Kiplimo had been seeking the first consecutive men's Chicago titles since Samuel Wanjiru won in 2009 and 2010.
Marcel Hug won the men's wheelchair race for the fifth year running, bringing his Chicago total to seven victories. His unofficial time of 1:21:33 bettered his 2023 record of 1:22:37. Lito Anker was second in 1:30:11; an early mechanical problem ended three-time champion Daniel Romanchuk's race.
