The Chicago Bears made quarterback Caleb Williams inactive for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers. He was not designated as an emergency quarterback, ruling out an appearance in the game.
Williams has been sidelined since a Grade 2 hamstring strain against the Vikings on Sept. 20. He did throwing workouts last week, took part in some of Friday's practice and worked on snaps and footwork before the Packers game. The Bears had listed him as questionable, although coach Ben Johnson had said earlier in the week that Tyson Bagent would start.
Williams could return when the Bears visit the Falcons next Sunday, but his availability remains uncertain. Chicago then hosts the Patriots on Oct. 22, giving the team a short turnaround as he recovers. An extended break follows before a Nov. 2 game at Seattle, offering another possible window for his return.
