The University Interscholastic League voted unanimously to restore Lewisville High School quarterback Laykon Brassfield’s eligibility after he missed four games under an earlier ruling.
Brassfield is cleared to return for the Fighting Farmers’ upcoming game against Flower Mound. His father, Jonathan Brassfield, said the eligibility dispute concerned residency and the paperwork needed to establish where the family lives. He described the past several weeks of trying to reverse the ruling as difficult.
Laykon Brassfield said he had remained hopeful while awaiting the decision. With his eligibility restored, he hopes to help Lewisville reach the playoffs and make a deep postseason run, potentially to a state championship.
