The $159 million Caney Pines Convention Center in New Caney is nearing completion and is scheduled to open to the public by December 2026. Built by the East Montgomery County Improvement District, it sits in Valley Ranch Shopping Center near the Grand Parkway and Interstate 69/US 59.
The 210,000-square-foot facility is designed for corporate meetings, regional expos and national conferences. Project general manager Melanie Granados said it could host conventions and conferences with 1,500 to 3,000 attendees.
The planned December opening could allow the center to host holiday markets organized locally. Its 2027 event calendar is already drawing bookings, while Oak View Group is recruiting local staff. Granados said the project aims to attract visitors whose spending would benefit nearby restaurants and entertainment businesses.
