SF New Deal has announced 28 recipients of its Inner Sunset Neighborhood Vibrancy Fund, including 20 businesses receiving grants for storefront improvements between 5th and 19th avenues.
The grants cover exterior work such as murals and lighting. Nearly 100 local businesses applied for grants ranging from $5,000 to $20,000. Inner Sunset neighbors contributed $300,000 to the effort, which extends SF New Deal’s small-business work beyond downtown.
The fund also supports new tenants near 9th Avenue and Irving Street. Mama’s Boy Pizza is set to move into the former Reliable Rexall pharmacy in the spring, marking its first expansion beyond Oakland. At 403 Irving St., leasing grant recipient 403 Coffee will be the west side’s first Yemeni cafe.
Planning Department records indicate that BMO Bank is considering the former Bank of America space across the street from the pharmacy. Both spaces have been vacant for more than a year.
