The Seminole Tribe of Florida sued DraftKings in Broward Circuit Court on Thursday, alleging its online platform runs an illegal sports betting business in the state.
The tribe says DraftKings violates a 2021 gaming compact with Florida that gives the tribe exclusive rights to sports betting. It wants the court to declare DraftKings’ betting activities unlawful, stop them and award damages and fees, including the return of profits it alleges came from Florida operations.
DraftKings representatives could not be reached for comment Thursday. Speaking to reporters in Miami that day, Gov. Ron DeSantis appeared to side with the tribe.
