Beyoncé attended the unveiling of the renovated Knowles-Rowland House in Houston with her daughters Blue Ivy and Rumi. The project is described as opening 31 homes.
Beyoncé and former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland co-founded the site in 1999 as a gymnasium and youth center. With help from the nonprofit Bread of Life, it has been renovated after hurricane and fire damage to provide permanent housing for people experiencing chronic homelessness.
The site is also set to offer case management, mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment, life-skills training and nutrition assistance.
