Beyoncé joined her daughters Blue Ivy and Rumi Carter in Houston on Oct. 13 for the opening of Knowles-Rowland House, a 31-apartment development for people experiencing chronic homelessness.
Kelly Rowland and Tina Knowles also attended the ribbon-cutting at St. John’s Downtown, the church where Beyoncé was baptized. The three-story building stands at 2019 Crawford St. in Midtown. Bread of Life, the nonprofit behind the project, put its completed cost at approximately $13.96 million.
The development will provide permanent housing and support services. Sixteen apartments are designed for residents with mobility or sensory needs, and federal housing vouchers will subsidize every unit. Residents will be able to access counseling, case management, transportation help and food resources through Temenos Community Development Corporation. The first move-ins are expected Nov. 1.
