Inglewood leaders held a ceremonial groundbreaking Wednesday for the $287.5 million Inglewood Transit Connector, a shuttle bus network intended to link the city's stadium district with Metro's K Line station in Downtown Inglewood.
Construction of a parking lot and shuttle bus plaza at Market Street and Florence Avenue is set to begin next month. The groundbreaking took place outside a shopping center on Market Street.
City officials say the shuttles could ease traffic and bring more visitors to local businesses. The plan comes amid residents' complaints about congestion, higher living costs and the demolition of familiar places as Inglewood has grown as an entertainment destination. Not everyone is persuaded that the project will help.
