Kelly Clarkson has accused a Brooklyn shop owner of lying in a dispute over whether a singing bird sculpture was offered for sale.
In a social media post, Clarkson said the owner initially priced the piece at $15,000 and, she alleges, offered to find her something comparable. The shop disputes her account. It says the automaton, called Molly, is attached to a wall, used in magic shows and was never for sale.
Clarkson had earlier said she visited the shop intending to buy several items but felt an employee steered her toward a cheaper option. She also rejected any suggestion that she does not support small businesses, pointing out that she was shopping at one when the alleged encounter took place.
