A man died after a vehicle struck him on 15th Avenue Northwest in Ballard early Saturday, Seattle police said.
The driver called 911 around 4 a.m. and reported hitting a pedestrian while traveling north. Seattle Fire Department medics found the man dead in the northbound lanes just north of Northwest 51st Street.
A witness told police the pedestrian had been walking north on the sidewalk and acting erratically before suddenly running into the street. Police said the 54-year-old driver pulled over, called for help and remained at the scene. A Drug Recognition Expert evaluated the driver and did not suspect impairment.
The Seattle Police Department’s Traffic Collision Investigation Squad is handling the follow-up investigation.
