Universal’s horror film Other Mommy led the domestic box office for the October 9–11 weekend with an estimated $27.5 million debut. The Jessica Chastain film took first place despite poor reviews.
Sony’s The Social Reckoning, Aaron Sorkin’s film about Facebook, opened in fifth place with an estimated $5.5 million, well below forecasts. Verity ranked second in its second weekend, earning an estimated $11.5 million.
The domestic market was estimated at $85.157 million for the weekend, down 15.6% from the previous weekend but up 18.5% from the comparable weekend in 2025. Some distributors said Hurricane Isaias, which made landfall in the Gulf region late Friday, hurt ticket sales in parts of the South and Gulf region.
