Anthony Barry will be beside Thomas Tuchel as England face Argentina on Wednesday, seeking a place in the men's World Cup final for the first time since 1966. The semi-final kicks off at 20:00 BST.
In 2015, Barry was nearing the end of a lower-league playing career at Accrington Stanley and coaching the club's Under-16s. Now 40, he is Tuchel's assistant with England, having worked with him at Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
Barry moved into coaching at Wigan Athletic after retiring, then joined Chelsea's first-team staff in 2020. Tuchel kept him on after taking charge in 2021, and they later reunited at Bayern in 2023. Barry has also held coaching roles with the Republic of Ireland, Belgium and Portugal.
