Tyler Ford, an 18-year-old kickboxer from Morriston, Swansea, has been charged with murdering Ceiran Evans following a road collision in Gorseinon. Evans, also 18, died after the collision; Ford is also charged with the attempted murder of a second person.
The charges concern a collision between a car and an off-road bike on Pen Cae Crwn Road on 9 July. Ford, a nine-time world kickboxing champion, appeared at Swansea Crown Court, where he confirmed his name but was not asked to enter pleas.
Judge Paul Thomas KC remanded Ford in custody. A plea and case management hearing is set for 29 September, with a two-week trial due to begin on 11 January.
Evans was from Gorseinon. His family paid tribute to his kindness and humour, saying he would be missed every day.
