Three men have been found guilty of murdering two Australian brothers and their American friend during a surfing trip in Mexico in 2024.
Jake Robinson, 30, Callum Robinson, 33, and Carter Rhoad, 30, were shot dead in Baja California state on Mexico’s Pacific coast. The attack was believed to be a robbery. A judge ruled that the three defendants, Jesus Gerardo, Irineo Francisco and Angel Jesus, had acted with premeditation. Jesus Gerardo, whose surname has not been disclosed for legal reasons, was accused of leading the attack.
The Robinson brothers’ parents, Martin and Debra, travelled from Australia to Ensenada for the trial, which began on 7 September. After the verdict, Martin Robinson said no outcome could undo the tragedy, but he hoped the decision would be a step towards justice. Debra Robinson said the verdict would not bring her sons back.
