Restaurant owner Pejman Zamani has posted a CCTV image of diners after identifying one woman in the group as someone he believes wrote a critical online review.
The review, posted on Google under the name Anonymous, described the family’s first visit as disappointing and expensive. It criticised the food and suggested the restaurant’s interior needed updating.
The image shows a man in the group giving two thumbs up as a member of staff approaches. Zamani took the gesture as apparent approval, but it does not confirm who wrote the review or how the diners felt about the meal overall.
Zamani, 65, has run his restaurant in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, for 36 years. He says anonymous negative reviews can be highly damaging.
