Josh Kerr will attempt to break the men's mile world record at Saturday's Diamond League meeting at London Stadium. The Scot has been confirmed for the Emsley Carr Mile alongside an international field that includes fellow Scot Neil Gourley, Olympic bronze medallist Yared Nuguse and Americans Hobbs Kessler and Nathan Green.
The record stands at 3 minutes 43.13 seconds, set by Morocco's Hicham El Guerrouj in Rome on 7 July 1999. Kerr, an Olympic silver medallist and two-time world indoor champion, finished a close second in the 1,000m at Friday's Monaco meeting, where Emmanuel Wanyonyi broke the world record.
Wanyonyi will race the 800m in London alongside Jake Wightman and Marco Arop. Keely Hodgkinson heads the women's 800m field, while Julien Alfred is due to defend her London 200m title against a line-up including Gabby Thomas and Dina Asher-Smith.
