The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly decided to release forward Dalton Knecht after two seasons with the team. The move was reported Monday by Shams Charania.
Knecht’s playing time fell sharply in his second NBA season. He averaged 4.2 points and 10.2 minutes across 54 games, down from 9.1 points and 19.2 minutes across 78 games as a rookie. His rebounds and assists also declined, from 2.8 and 0.8 per game to 1.4 and 0.4.
The Lakers previously tried to send Knecht to the Charlotte Hornets midway through his rookie season, but the deal fell through and he returned to Los Angeles. A former Tennessee player selected 17th overall, Knecht would now be seeking a new team if his release goes through.
