Aaron Boone is expected to return as New York Yankees manager in 2027, which would be his 10th season in the role. The reported plan would keep him in charge for the final year of his current contract.
New York has gone 790-565 under Boone and reached the postseason in eight of his nine seasons, but it has not won a World Series during his tenure. The franchise’s last championship came in 2009. This postseason ended with a sweep by the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League Division Series.
Asked about his job after that loss, Boone deferred the discussion. Owner Hal Steinbrenner and general manager Brian Cashman have remained supportive of him, while any extension beyond 2027 remains unresolved.
