A drone strike near a market in Sudan’s al-Dibab reportedly killed 80 people on Sunday evening, most of them commuters waiting for rides home.
Witness Ahmed Wadi said the drone hit a transport hub twice, about 10 minutes apart. He said he helped bury 50 people, including his brother Mohamed, and that 47 others were taken to al-Mujlad. A medic said 30 of those taken there died from their injuries. The medic also reported that a separate drone strike on al-Mujlad injured four people.
The administration declared by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) accused Sudan’s army of carrying out the al-Dibab strike. Al-Dibab is in West Kordofan state, which the RSF controls. The army and the RSF have been at war since April 2023.
