Ukraine’s military has reportedly faced sudden restrictions on Starlink satellite internet terminals used in combat. Serhiy Beskrestnov, a military technology adviser to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said terminals travelling at high speed lost connectivity on Tuesday evening, causing several combat missions to fail.
SpaceX, which distributes and manages the terminals, had not confirmed any change to Starlink’s service. The reason for the reported restrictions remained unclear.
The disruption came as Russia launched ballistic missiles at Ukraine for a second night. Air force spokesperson Col Yurii Ihnat said Ukraine received no advance warning before Tuesday’s first barrage, though foreign partners warned it about three later barrages. Whether the US intentionally withheld intelligence remains unclear. Donald Trump has denied cutting intelligence sharing, while Zelenskyy said military advisers had received US threats that it could be limited.
The developments also coincide with pressure from the Trump administration for Ukraine to stop long-range strikes on Russia’s oil industry immediately.
