Ukraine’s military appears to have lost Starlink connectivity on some fast-moving terminals on Tuesday evening, disrupting several combat missions, according to an adviser on military technology to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Serhiy Beskrestnov said terminals travelling at more than 100mph lost their connection while using a version of Starlink for military and other national security purposes. Elon Musk’s SpaceX manages and distributes the terminals, but had not confirmed any change to the service. The reason for the apparent restriction remained unclear.

The disruption came amid Trump administration pressure on Ukraine to stop long-range strikes on Russia’s oil industry. It also coincided with Russian ballistic missile attacks. Air force spokesperson Col Yurii Ihnat said Ukraine received no advance warning before the first barrage on Tuesday, but foreign partners warned of three later barrages. It remains unclear whether the US withheld intelligence; Donald Trump has denied cutting intelligence sharing with Ukraine.
