Mark Smith, a British man living in Sweden, says he and his wife have left their home in Falkenberg because they fear he could be deported over his post-Brexit residency status.
Smith, 60, has had heart attacks and strokes and has other serious health problems. He says he was told by phone to leave Sweden by 17 October because he lacked permission to stay. The couple have moved to a caravan park in south-west Sweden.
Smith has lived in Sweden since 2017. He says he asked the tax authority three times whether Brexit required him to take any action and was told it did not. Sweden, however, required British residents who had arrived before Brexit to make a formal application to remain.
A court ruled on 12 October that a deportation decision would not be suspended, but gave Smith until 20 October to apply for a retrial. He says the situation stems from incorrect advice from the authorities.
