Five people were killed and 16 wounded in an attack on Yemen’s presidential palace complex in Aden on Thursday, Health Minister Qasim Buhaibeh said. The casualties included guards and civilian employees.
Yemen’s cabinet said missiles and drones were used against the Al-Maashiq palace complex, the seat of the Saudi-backed, internationally recognised government. Information Minister Moammar al-Eryani said Prime Minister Shaya al-Zindani and cabinet members were safe.
A Houthi military spokesperson said the group had struck what he described as a Saudi military operations headquarters in Aden. The attack was the first on Al-Maashiq palace in the current fighting between the Iran-aligned Houthis and Saudi Arabia. The Saudi-led coalition has listed dozens of Houthi attacks on Saudi infrastructure in recent weeks.
