Kyler Rattray has pleaded not guilty to the murder of scientist Dr Fortune Gomo in Dundee. Prosecutors allege the attack was aggravated by race, nationality or ethnicity.

Rattray, 21, is accused of repeatedly striking Dr Gomo, 39, with a knife near her home on South Road on 5 July 2025. He also faces a charge of unlawfully possessing a knife in public. He entered his plea by video link at a High Court hearing in Glasgow on Monday.

His lawyer, Iain Paterson KC, said a mental health report would be prepared and that an assessment would examine whether autism could be relevant to a diminished-responsibility defence. The trial is due to begin at the High Court in Dundee in January 2028.

Dr Gomo was a mother who worked for Scottish Water. She had joined the organisation less than six months before her death.
