Palestinian authorities said at least 20 people were injured in attacks on olive harvesters across eight occupied West Bank villages on Friday. The attacks also injured photographer Heidi Levine.
In Abu Falah, near Ramallah, at least 80 Israeli settlers gathered to prevent Palestinians from harvesting olives. Some carried firearms or clubs, while others used slingshots to throw rocks at farmers. When some Palestinians picked up rocks in response, Israeli troops fired tear gas towards them.
Witnesses said settlers beat Levine for more than 10 minutes and stole her passport, phone, wallet and equipment. Levine said Palestinian colleagues intervened to end the attack. Cars and olive trees were also burned during the wider violence.
