A state investigation is examining the Oct. 12 death of Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem, 42, who was ejected while riding Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia. Officials are looking at the ride’s operation and whether safety requirements were met.
Attorney Ben Crump said lawsuits can help families obtain answers after deaths on amusement park rides. He has not been hired by Kariem’s family. In such cases, Crump said he examines safety procedures and evidence of what happened, as well as avenues for accountability.
Crump’s firm represented the family of Tyre Sampson, 14, who died in 2022 after falling from a drop tower at Orlando’s ICON Park. A jury awarded his family $310 million in a 2024 lawsuit against the ride’s manufacturer. Questions about Kariem’s death remain unanswered.
