President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance announced a $25 million program Tuesday to encourage reports of suspected fraud involving federal programs and funds.
Under the Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program, people who submit tips through fraud.gov may qualify for up to $30,000 if the information leads to a fraud conviction or a significant federal enforcement action, the White House said. The Justice Department will administer the program.
Trump said he would personally decide who receives payments, leaving unclear how that role would fit with the department’s oversight. The announcement builds on an anti-fraud task force Trump established in March and placed under Vance’s leadership.
